Handwoven in Morocco, these blankets are the woven by the Berbers, which are a hill tribe and major cultural majority in the country. Berber wedding blankets are often woven by a bride's family in anticipation of her wedding.
This handira features rows of woven sequins in a checker/geometric pattern. The back of the blanket is plain, with kilim ribbon stripes. Very interesting and rare Moroccan artifact! Blanket is shown on a queen bed.
